Along with sports, music is the other big winner of the Olympic Games. Omnipresent in the opening and closing ceremonies, musical performances capsized the public and the athletes, reviving the craze for certain hits and legendary groups while putting the spotlight on promising artists.

On streaming platforms, the Olympic effect was immediate. Following her performance at the opening ceremony, Aya Nakamura, who performed a medley of her signature songs “Djadja” and “Pookie” as well as Charles Aznavour’s “Formidable”, saw the number of listens to her tracks jump by 220% on Deezer between July 26 and 27, according to Alexandre Pipieri, music programmer at Deezer.
