Unions are blocking the entrance to four Lidl stores in Wallonia and Flanders on Saturday, the German supermarket brand said on Saturday.

These are stores located in

  • Saint-Nicolas (East Flanders),
  • Yellow (Anvers),
  • Chapelle-lez-Herlaimont (Hainaut) and
  • Mouscron (Hainaut),

explains the Lidl spokesperson.

This is an isolated action by a few members of the BBTK/Setca socialist unions and the CNE, she specifies. Union members placed shopping carts in front of the entrance, preventing customers from accessing the store.

The supermarkets indicated that they did not understand the action, carried out in the middle of the holiday period.

There is no concrete request

We are continually in dialogue with our unions, precisely because we consider them to be true partners. There is no concrete demand and the stores are still blocked. Once once more, we do not understand this action. This affects our colleagues as much as our customers“, adds Lidl.

Several actions were also carried out in some Lidl stores on Friday to denounce the working conditions and the generalization of precarious contracts within the brand.
