Liverpool Football Club is slowly returning to normalcy as players have begun to report for pre-season training. This follows the heartbreaking news of the death of forward Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre silva, in a car accident.

The initial return date for players was last Friday, but it was understandably postponed following the tragic incident. Jota, 28, and his brother, 25, were involved in a collision while Jota was traveling back to Liverpool for pre-season preparations.

Doctors had recommended against flying for Jota due to recent minor surgery. Consequently, he opted for a journey by car and ferry. The circumstances surrounding the accident are still under examination.

A meaningful number of Liverpool players and staff traveled to Portugal to pay their respects at a public wake held for Jota and his brother on Friday. The outpouring of grief and support from the football community has been immense.

The funeral service took place on Saturday in Gondomar, the hometown of Jota and Andre Silva. Captain Virgil van Dijk and defender Andy Robertson were among those who carried floral tributes, demonstrating the deep respect held for the brothers.

New Manager Arne Slot also joined the Liverpool delegation. The team is now preparing for their first pre-season match against Preston North End on July 13th at Deepdale, a game that will undoubtedly be played with heavy hearts.
