Rooted in Healing: A Growing Faith-Based Counseling Center
In the heart of Pennsylvania, Rooted in Healing Counseling Center has emerged as a beacon of hope for individuals seeking holistic well-being through a faith-based lens.Founded by board-certified Christian counselor, [Client Name], the center is witnessing remarkable growth, fueled by a demand for accessible and compassionate mental health support rooted in biblical principles.
Bridging the Gap Between Faith and Psychology
“It’s really bridging the gap through a lens of biblical principles,” said Carter, a 2006 graduate of Upper St. Clair High School. ”I grew up in the church and was in and out of church for a variety of reasons, but I was on my own healing journey as well. I ultimately realized that combining my belief system with psychology was a formula to get me to some deeper change and I just wanted to be able to do that for peopel that were seeking out the next level. We have so many different types of therapeutic treatment modalities, but a lot of people do want to incorporate their own belief system.”
Responding to a Growing Need
Carter’s vision stemmed from her own spiritual journey and a recognition of the limited options available for individuals seeking faith-informed counseling. “As the Eighty Four resident put her business plan in place, her research revealed an ‘overwhelming’ lack of faith-based practices.” she noted.
“We are a counseling center that’s willing to meet you where you’re at in your specific belief system and be able to partner those two things,” Carter explained. “That was kind of the beginning of Rooted in Healing, just my own journey.”
Expansion and Community Engagement
Rooted in Healing’s impact has resonated deeply within the community. Since launching just 18 months ago, the center has surpassed 100 clients, a testament to the growing demand for its unique approach. Initially operating with a dedicated clientele of 14, Carter’s commitment to providing quality care lead to the expansion of her team in May 2023, welcoming three additional therapists. Added recently is a family and marriage therapy intern, and Carter’s husband, eddie, serves as managing partner and chief financial officer.
To further engage the community, Rooted in Healing is launching a five-week workshop series titled “Rooted and Renewed” at their new location in Waterdam Plaza. This series addresses common concerns like anxiety, relationship challenges, and faith-based emotional healing.
“We felt very strongly that this would be more beneficial in person,” Carter said. “We went back and forth, thinking maybe we could rent a place for the workshop or should we look for our own space. We looked at a couple of places and felt that the location at Waterdam Plaza was a good bridge between Washington County and Allegheny County.”
A Warm and Welcoming Space
The new facility prioritizes a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. in addition to three private offices, the design includes a welcoming waiting area and a dedicated space for workshops. Carter emphasizes,”We don’t really want to have a very typical conference room feeling. We want it to be an inviting space with comfortable seating – a very cozy, safe atmosphere.
A Testament to Word-of-Mouth Success
“It’s been such a blessing,” Carter said.“We’ve only been up and operating for 18 months. We haven’t really done a ton of formal marketing. It’s truly been word of mouth. It’s such a hometown feel. Whenever somebody hears about something that is good, it spreads like wildfire. Ultimately, we just want people to get help.
