Elsewhere in Western New York, Hamburg Police recently concluded that a bomb threat made against a local school was not credible. The threat was reported earlier in February, according to a Facebook post from the West Seneca Police Department detailing activity between February 15th and 21st, 2026. The post, which represents a sample of patrol complaints, also noted the arrest of a 27-year-aged Hamburg man for shoplifting at a Wegmans store.

In a separate incident, Everett J. Babcock, 62, of Ovid, NY, was arrested by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office on October 1st, 2024, for criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds. The arrest followed a report to the South Seneca Junior/Senior High School Resource Officer regarding a possible weapon on campus.

Hamburg Police also reported locating a missing teenager, who was reported to be in good health. The case had prompted a public appeal for information from the department.
