The Government established that Monday, May 2, will be the nonworking for public sector workers, so that they have a long holiday, since Sunday May 1 is a holiday for the Labor Day.

The Executive issued said measure on March 31 through the supreme decree Nº 033-2022-PCM. In addition, the supreme decree determined that public sector workers who do not work on May 2 must recover said hours in the 10 days immediately following or on the date decided by the head of each public entity, based on their own needs. .

The owners of public sector entities will also adopt the necessary measures to guarantee the provision of those services that are essential for society during non-working days.

In the case of private companies, workers will be able to take advantage of the non-working dayprior agreement with the employer. The workers must establish the form of how the recovery of the hours left to work will be effective. In the absence of agreement, the employer will decide.

Entities and companies subject to the private activity regime that carry out health and sanitation services, cleaning and sanitation, electricity, water, drainage, gas and fuel, funerals, communications and telecommunications, transportation, ports, airports, security, custody, surveillance , and transfer of securities and sale of provisions and food; they are empowered to determine the jobs that are excluded from the non-working day, and the respective workers who will continue to work, in order to guarantee services to the community.
