ANAHEIM — The Los Angeles Angels clinched their eighth losing season with a 5-3 loss to Detroit on Sunday, as the Tigers completed a three-game sweep aided by two homers by Jake Rogers in the first three innings.

The Angels (68-82), playing without injured stars Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, have lost five straight games.

Rogers had 4 RBIs as Detroit completed a three-game sweep in Anaheim for the first time since they did so from August 16-18, 1993. The Tigers have won six of their last eight games, and will continue their journey in California by visiting the Dodgers and Oakland.

Rogers put Detroit ahead with a solo homer in the second inning, and hit another for three runs that increased the lead to 5-0 in the third.

Joey Wentz (3-11) earned the victory, and Alex Lange recorded his 24th save in 29 chances. Kenny Rosenberg (1-2) was the loser.

For the Tigers, Puerto Rican Javier Báez went 1 for 4, and Cuban Andy Ibáñez went 0 for 3 with one run scored.
