A new destination to discover

Instead of its traditional annual list, the news outlet asked its readers to send messages highlighting the places that delighted and inspired them in 2020. The aim was to inspire travelers around the world in a particularly difficult year for the tourism sector.

The Los Llanos region was described as a point in Colombia that is worth discovering far beyond the traditional destinations such as Cartagena or Bogotá.

Los Llanos is home to an attractive combination of pristine biodiversity and traditional cattle culture seemingly lost in time. Anacondas, howler monkeys, capybaras and crocodiles coexist with cattlemen, farmers and thousands of head of cattle “, says the text written by Samuel Dulik.

The Huanchaco resort in Peru, located in La Libertad, was noted for its excellent beaches for surfing and the local live culture, embodied by fishermen and their reed horses.

Asunción, capital of Paraguay, was also recommended for the kindness and warmth that its people provide. “Backpackers tend to skip it because of its flashier neighbors. But for me, traveling is not about taking pictures of famous things: it is about people, ”wrote Abigail Williamson, author of the text.
