The pilots Marc and Álex Márquez, MotoGP and Moto2 World champions, respectively, and the swimmer Ona Carbonell, who is the Spanish athlete with the most medals in World Cups (23), the best Catalan athletes of 2019 were chosen by the Union of Catalan Sports Federations (UFEC).
They were also awarded, among others, Sergi Bruguera, as best coach, Carles Puyol, with the legendary athlete award, and CN Sabadell, as best team.
As for the athletes with more projection, the jury has highlighted the trajectory of the 17-year-old judoka Ai Tsunoda, who has been distinguished for her successes in the World cadets and juniors, as well as Nil Llop for her successes in the Games Skating and junior European championships.
The sports spirit award went to Marc Fuentes, 19, who suffers from cerebral palsyl with an affectation of 75% of his mobility, but that has not prevented him from pursuing the higher degree of soccer coach and is part of the technical staff of Vilanova del Vallès.
The Catalan clubs celebrating their centenary were also awarded: GEiEG, UE Figueres, CF Santa Barbara, CD Alcanar, FC Cellera, UE Campdevànol, UE La Pala de Cervelló, Club d'Escacs Sant Andreu, CF Pobla, CE Llançà and FC Canet.
