Scientists from the University of Chicago in the US have concluded that loss of smell may be a sign of Alzheimer’s disease.

They tested more than 850 people and found a link between changes in the sense of smell and the development of the disease.

For 15 years, testing has been carried out on the gene that carries the highest risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

It turned out that people over 69 with this gene distinguish smells worse by 37%. In addition, their cognitive abilities declined much faster, according to a scientific paper published in the journal Neurology.
