A father is traveling with his two sons aged five and seven. When crossing a street, a reversing roller hit the five-year-old and fatally crushed him.

A five-year-old was hit by an asphalt roller near a construction site in Celle, Lower Saxony, and died. As the police said, the boy was traveling with his father and seven-year-old brother on Monday. The children rode their bikes while the father jogged behind them.

While the older brother had already crossed a road that was being built on, the five-year-old followed and was hit by a reversing roller. He died at the scene of the accident. All those involved in the accident, including the 57-year-old driver of the work machine, received pastoral care.

The accident site is a cordoned-off construction site area, the police said. The roadway has been renewed there since the start of the holidays. How the accident happened is now being determined. An expert was also consulted for this purpose.
