Lukashenka persuaded Putin to use tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus | Belarus Nuclear weapons | AFN | Belarusian news | Republic of Belarus

Russia intends to place tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus, Putin said today.

He claims that he agreed on this with Lukashenka and that such deployment will be done without violating the nuclear non-proliferation regime.

Putin also said that Russia had already helped convert several Belarusian military aircraft to use tactical nuclear weapons and donated Iskander missile systems capable of carrying such weapons to Minsk.

“The reason was the statement of the Deputy Minister of Defense of Great Britain that they are going to supply shells to Ukraine with depleted uranium,” Putin said.

“But even outside the context of these events, Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko has long raised the question of deploying Russian tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus,” Putin specified.
