Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, during a phone call to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, expressed his country’s solidarity, government and people, with Syria, following the devastating earthquake that struck it.

Maduro affirmed his country’s readiness to continue providing assistance to Syria, in order to overcome the effects of the earthquake.

For his part, al-Assad assured Maduro that “the rescue teams and relief aid, which were sent to Syria from Venezuela and a number of brotherly Arab and friendly foreign countries, had a great impact in supporting the Syrian government’s efforts to overcome the ordeal.”

Al-Assad stressed that this aid is “much appreciated by the Syrian people.”

It is worth mentioning that Venezuela has sent humanitarian aid planes to Damascus, as well as rescue experts, once morest the backdrop of the earthquake that struck northern Syria and southern Turkey.

More victims were recovered from among the rubble of debris accumulated in the affected areas in Syria, amid expectations of a rise in the announced and non-final toll, which amounted to more than 4,500 deaths, at a time when the authorities warned of cracked and threatened buildings.

Arab and international aid from countries friendly to Syria continues to reach the airports of Aleppo, Damascus and Latakia.
