The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has appointed actress Mahira Khan as its goodwill ambassador to Pakistan.
UNHCR shared a video on Twitter of Mahira Khan spending time with refugee children wearing a UN cap.
Along with the above video, UNHCR expressed its happiness on appointing Mahir Khan as Goodwill Ambassador.

The said video was shared by Mahira Khan on her Twitter account and wrote that it is a great honor for me to be the Goodwill Ambassador for the refugees. Proud of it’.

A ceremony was also organized in Islamabad by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in honor of the country’s goodwill ambassador Mahira Khan.
Addressing the event, Mahira Khan said, “I am fortunate to have been selected for this noble cause.”
He said that I am grateful to the United Nations Organization for Refugees (UNHCR) who trusted me, Allah has chosen me for this purpose which I will try to fulfill.
Mahira Khan said that Pakistani people welcomed Afghan refugees with open heart, that is the reason why Pakistan has been helping 4 million Afghan refugees for 4 decades.
He further said that the problems of refugees were not given much importance in the past, but it is also important that the problem of refugees is not of a single country but of the whole world.
It should be remembered that last year, Mahira Khan visited the UNHCR camp in Peshawar where while addressing the ceremony, she said that we have to work together for the future of homeless children because children are the future. They are architects.
