Washington, DC: A young man has been arrested in the United States for smuggling 52 snakes and lizards under his clothes. He tried to cross into the US with 52 living reptiles in his clothes. The young man was captured by U.S. border guards.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials said he arrived at the San Jacidro crossing on the Mexican border. The truck driven by the accused was seized by the customs officials.

The incident took place on February 25 at around 3 am. During the physical examination, the reptiles were found in the pocket of the young man’s pants and jacket. The 43 horned lizards and nine snakes were kept in small bags hidden inside the body.

Smugglers try every possible way to get their product. Sidney Aki, CBP director of field operations in San Diego, said the smuggler tried to deceive CBP officials into bringing the animals to the U.S. without paying attention to the health and safety of the animals.

Police have registered a case once morest the youth for trying to smuggle live reptiles.
