A 45-year-old man was prosecuted before the Neufchâteau criminal court for raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter. The events happened in Grand-Halleux (Vielsalm) during the night of Christmas Eve, between December 24 and 25, 2021.
The father-in-law, who had been drinking heavily, claimed for a long time that he did not remember exactly what happened. He also says that he has rebuilt his life since the events and does not need psychological assistance.

This is what the court has just decided. The defendant, defended by Me Sylvain Danneels, receives a sentence of three years in prison, with a probationary suspension of five years, on the condition of never once more associating with minors unaccompanied by an adult (with the exception of their own children) and avoid any contact with the victim.
