Shock news for Manchester City!
Uefa will block the English club from the Champions League for the next two seasons. This is because City has repeatedly violated the rules of the financial fair play. The European Football Association announced on Friday evening. The ban from the Champions League comes into effect next season. To do this, ManCity has to pay a fine of 30 million euros.
Uefa’s investigations were initiated after the “Spiegel” published internal documents and emails in autumn 2018. These show that supposed sponsorship money from Abu Dhabi was actually paid by club owner Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
ManCity has already responded to the verdict. The club wrote in a message that they were disappointed – but not surprised. The Uefa initiated the case, the criticism from Manchester. City wants to take the decision before the international sports court CAS. (Wst / mam)
