Hland to leave Dortmund to sign Manchester City
The Erling Hland soap opera is coming to an end. Courted by the biggest European clubs, including Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich, the Borussia Dortmund striker will join Manchester City this summer.
As announced by several media on Monday, the 21-year-old center forward had his medical visit to Belgium and his transfer should be formalized this week. Close to the Norwegian’s family and considered his spokesperson, Jan Aage Fjortoft confirmed his departure on Twitter: Finally, a decision is made. Erling Hland will play for Manchester City next season. Hland’s team informed Real Madrid and Bayern Munich last week of their decision.
Cost of the operation: between 280 and 360 M€!
To attract the native of Leeds, the leader of the Premier League did not hesitate to put the package. The figures are not yet official but the amount of the transfer is estimated between 60 and 90 million euros according to the sources. Added to this sum are the player’s emoluments: a five-year contract paying €30m per season! Unheard of in the Premier League. Marca even evokes a sum of 40 M € per year. Over the duration of his contract, Hland will receive between 150 and 200 M€!
And that’s not all. Manchester City have also reportedly agreed to pay €30m to the player’s father, involved in the negotiations, and €40m to the agency which was run by Mino Raiola, Hland’s agent until his recent death. In total, the cost of the operation for Manchester City thus amounts to between 280 and 360 M€ over the duration of the player’s future contract. Numbers that make you dizzy.
