Keur Massar, a town heavily impacted by the floods, will be, today Wednesday, September 16, the first stop for Mansour Faye, the Minister of Community Development, Social and Territorial Equity, and his team, in charge of distribution direct assistance to those affected.
In a televised speech on Tuesday, September 8, following a meeting at the Palace on the issue of flooding, the Head of State, Macky Sall, announced, as a first emergency measure, the decision to release an envelope of 10 billion FCFA in favor of the populations affected by the torrential rains recorded in recent days.
From this envelope, an amount of three billion FCFA in cash will go directly to the populations, with basic necessities (food, mattresses, etc.).
However, in a note made public, the minister’s services speak of “an envelope of 2.5 billion intended for affected households released by the World Bank through the social safety net support project”.
From the ten billion envelope, the remaining seven will be used to provide a first technical response for the evacuation of stagnant rainwater.
