Marathon of free surgeries will improve the quality of life of residents of Concepción

Asunción, IP Agency.- The day of gallstone and hernia repair surgeries will take place from this Wednesday, October 2 to Friday, October 4, at the District Hospital and IPS of Horqueta, and will improve the quality of life of approximately 50 people from the department of Concepción . The selected people are already carrying out pre-surgical studies to guarantee the success of the procedures.

It is organized by the Ministry of Public Health, through the First Health Region – Concepción, the Regional Hospital, Horqueta District Hospital, Horqueta Social Security Institute (IPS) and the Health Secretariat of the Departmental Government.

The surgical procedures to be performed are gallbladder lithiasis and hernia repair, at no cost to the beneficiaries.

This Tuesday, October 1, the beneficiaries carry out the corresponding pre-surgical studies such as routine clinical control of blood, urine, x-rays, ultrasound and others, as appropriate. Both examinations and surgery are performed free of charge for patients.

Initiatives like this are part of the priorities of the Government of Paraguay to improve medical care and guarantee that citizens access timely and quality care. The marathon or day of surgeries not only eased the burden on patients, but also highlights the importance of inter-institutional cooperation to address challenges in the health system, notes the Ministry of Public Health.
