“Marc Márquez’s Dominance at COTA: A Look at the 2019 and 2020 MotoGP Races”

2023-04-16 20:23:04

With seven Texas victories, Marc Márquez is the undisputed «King of COTA». However, in 2019 Alex Rins (then on Suzuki) was on hand when the Repsol Honda star crashed while in the lead, and last year Enea Bastianini won on Ducati.

Because the “Bestia” and Marc Márquez, like Pol Espargaró, were absent this weekend due to the followingmath of their crashes at the season opener in Portugal, only LCR Honda newcomer Rins was able to prevent a new Austin GP winner.

Indeed, Rins did so following pole-sitter and sprint winner Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia fabricated one of many crashes in a turbulent MotoGP race while in the lead.

Only 13 drivers completed the full 20-lap distance, including Jonas Folger, who scored 12th on his comeback.
