Her passing marks the end of an era for a woman deeply rooted in the community and cherished by those who knew her. Born in Albany, Mary was the daughter of the late Stephen and Marie Weinlein. She shared 51 years of marriage with her late husband, Charles Whitman Jr. Throughout her life, Mary cultivated a strong sense of connection with others, particularly through shared hobbies and a dedication to family. Mary is survived by her three daughters: Susan (Gerald) Rider, Carolyn (Dennis) Brown, and Joan (Bob Doty) Burns. Her legacy extends to her grandchildren – Aric (Robin), Kain (Paula), and David (Jaime) Rider; Brian (Sara), Dana (Justin), and Jeffrey (Megan) Brown; Heather and Michelle (Jim) Burns – and a growing family of great-grandchildren, including Vanessa, Aric Jr., Avery, Ayden, Cody, Abby, Samantha, Charlotte, Evelyn, Wyatt, Lucy, Desi, Robbie, and Anthony. She also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends Sandra and Mark.

Services to Honor Mary Whitman

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, located at 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY, on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 am at the same location. Following the service, Mary will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens in Colonie, NY, alongside her beloved husband, Charles.
