Today, US Congressman Matt Gaetz introduced a bill that, if passed, would allow federal income tax to be paid with Bitcoin.
“This is a bold step toward a future where digital currencies play a vital role in our financial system, ensuring that the United States remains at the forefront of technological advancement,” the American lawyer shared regarding the possible legalization of this currency.
It is worth noting that since 2021, El Salvador adopted Bitcoin as legal tender, thanks to the efforts of President Nayib Bukele. Since then, the country has seen an increase in profits, either due to the price of the currency or the tourism that Bitcoin has generated. Likewise, thanks to this measure, works such as Chivo Pets, the first public veterinary hospital in El Salvador, have been carried out.
