TOP GUN 2 – Like many films these days, Top Gun Maverick will miss its initial release date, hoping to see the coronavirus health crisis pass.
[Mis à jour le 03 avril 2020 à 10h53] Tom Cruise himself announced it on his Twitter account: Top Gun 2 will not finally be released this summer. “I know many of you have waited 34 years. Unfortunately, the wait will be a bit longer. Top Gun Maverick will take off in December. Take care of yourself.” In the process, the official Twitter account of Paramount France announced the official release date of this sequel to Top Gun in France. And it is on December 23 that we will finally be able to discover the rest of the pilot’s adventures. This decision follows growing uncertainty about the possibility of releasing a blockbuster in the coming months, the world facing the coronavirus pandemic, cinemas being closed and a large part of the population being confined. The film’s release date is therefore postponed from July 15 to December 23 in France.
Top Gun: Maverick, following Tony Scott’s feature film, sees Tom Cruise back as a fighter pilot. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is now an instructor in the Navy. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, filmmaker who has already had the opportunity to work with Tom Cruise on the science fiction film Oblivion. In the casting, Top Gun 2 will see the return of Val Kilmer but also the arrival of Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris or Miles Teller. The feature is scheduled for release in France on December 23, 2020, two weeks after the American release.
Synopsis – Refusing to go up in rank to always have the right to fly, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is entrusted with the training of students from Top Gun school. They will have to perform a particularly dangerous mission and it is up to Maverick to ensure that they can carry it out. In doing so, he meets the son of his late friend Goose.
