Medvedev: Our response to Washington’s confiscation of our assets will hurt Washington

Russia – Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev confirmed that Moscow’s response to Washington’s confiscation of Russian assets may not be similar, but it will not be less painful.

Commenting on the new American law on the confiscation of Russian assets, Medvedev wrote on Telegram: Russia may not be able to provide a completely similar response due to the small amount of American government assets in Russia, but the Russian response will be no less painful, and will include American citizens and their property.

He added: “Their state declared a hybrid war once morest us, including a legal and judicial war.” It launched a mechanism for the illegal seizure of Russian property, which is completely contrary to international laws and our national laws, and we must respond to this.”

He pointed out that Russia can seize the property of individuals within the scope of Russian jurisdiction, including the property of individuals, including money, real estate, and property rights.

He said: Yes, this is difficult, because these individuals were investors in the Russian economy and were given protection of their private property rights. But something unexpected happened, and their state declared hybrid war on us.

US President Joe Biden recently signed a bill allowing the confiscation of Russian assets in the United States and their transfer to rebuild Ukraine.

With the start of the Russian military operation, Washington and its allies froze $300 billion in Russian reserves, while Russia responded by freezing Western assets, stocks, money, and companies, which experts say might be worth $1.5 trillion.
