Bern, 03.11.2023 – On 3 November 2023, Federal Councilor Karin Keller-Sutter, Head of the Federal Department of Finance, met her German counterpart, Christian Lindner, in Lucerne as part of a working visit.

In Lucerne, Federal Councilor Karin Keller-Sutter and German Minister Christian Lindner discussed global developments affecting the financial sector. At the end of the meeting, Federal Councilor Karin Keller-Sutter recalled that Germany is Switzerland’s main trading partner and that, therefore, its economic development is very important for Switzerland. She further welcomed the good collaboration between the two countries, also with regard to financial matters.

The two ministers then traveled to the University of Lucerne, where they held a conference on the importance of regulation in current fiscal policy.

Switzerland and Germany have very close economic ties, with Germany being Switzerland’s main trading partner. In 2022, trade in goods and services between the two countries will amount to more than 100 billion francs.
