Meeting in Doha to discuss truces in Gaza – Jornal OPaís

The head of Israel’s Intelligence Services, the Qatari prime minister and Egyptian officials met yesterday in Doha to discuss a possible truce agreement in Gaza, a source close to the negotiations told AFP.

The meeting between the head of Mossad, David Barnea, the head of government of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdelrahman Al-Thani, and Egyptian representatives “is expected to take place today [ontem]” in the capital of Qatar, this source said.

French news agency AFP specifies that the source requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the negotiations.

Israel began bombing Gaza following attacks by Hamas in the south of Israeli territory, carried out in October 2023, justifying the intervention with the need to nullify Hamas’ military capabilities.

The invasion of Gaza is the latest episode in a conflict lasting more than seven decades between Israel and Palestine, which is still not recognized as a state by the entire international community.
