In 1975 the Briton co-created Visual pleasure and narrative cinema (im Original: Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema) a milestone in feminist film theory. Her main thesis: In classic Hollywood narrative cinema, women are the visual spectacle, men are the driving force. An apt observation that no one had previously articulated with such clarity.
