Mercedes López de González leads meeting with older women

At a meeting held in the Baruta Mines, Miranda state, the wife of the presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, Mercedes Lopez Gonzalezshared with a group of elderly women living in a care home.

Despite González Urrutia’s presence, it was his wife who led the meeting with the group, sharing with the community to listen to their demands, especially in the case of those who do not hide their annoyance at the State’s neglect.

“We want this to change. We are alone, we cannot afford our medicines, we are abandoned. We never thought we would be like this.”commented Marianela Benítez, one of the grandmothers who belongs to the program Ascending life.

The group of elderly women are cared for in the care home, where They are given support and are involved in activities to distract themselves.Many of them live alone in the country, as their families are part of the numerous migration cases.

“We will not forget you because we are also like you”said Mercedes Lopez de Gonzalez.

Those present took advantage of the visit to pray and express their hope before the celebration of the presidential elections on July 28: “Prayer is at this moment our greatest help to the country and for change”said Maria de los Angeles Cartaya, a collaborator of the activity.
