Merchant was robbed and kidnapped for trading truck on Marketplace

The subject would have been ambushed to take the eight thousand Múcura dollars.

A merchant from the city of Carúpano, Sucre state, was a victim last Wednesday of criminal gangs that sell vehicles through the Marketplace portal on Facebook.

The person’s name was not released. What transpired is that he negotiated the purchase of an NPR truck, for a cost of 8 thousand dollars in cash.

The man was buoyed by the bargain, and arrived early on Wednesday morning. Presumably the seller, in another telephone contact, told him that they might not see each other in the city, arguing that he had family commitments at the last minute.

In this way, he told him to see himself in Múcura, on the road that leads to the town of Santa Cruz in the Lamas municipality.

The victim agreed to go to the sector and then was ambushed by unknown, heavily armed men; one of them blurted out: “We don’t sell vehicles, we are pure underworld.”

A second person asked: Where are the dollars?, so the merchant pretended not to understand and was kidnapped. When the neighbors found out, they informed the police.

A mixed commission managed to rescue the man, but the criminals, when cornered, fled towards the mountain.

The thug group kept the dollars in cash.
