Meta: Children aged 10-12 now have access to the metaverse

Since its launch in 2019, the metaverse has still not managed to generate public interest. In an attempt to put its virtual universe back in the spotlight, Meta announced on Thursday, August 29, that preteens will be able to access it under certain conditions.

In four years of existence, the metaverse, this digital world in which users equipped with a virtual reality headset – preferably Meta’s, the Quest – can interact and do activities, has cost more than 50 billion dollars to the group that notably owns Facebook. Even the launch of “Horizon Worlds” – the platform in question – in December 2021, which was supposed to be the cornerstone of the project, did not convince the public. So much so that in 2022, Horizon’s boss, Vivek Sharma, decided to hand in his resignation to Mark Zuckerberg.
