A Mexican woman was swimming close to shore with her five-year-old daughter when she was severely bitten by a shark.

Despite rapid intervention by authorities, the 26-year-old woman bled to death following the significant bite from the animal, according to CBS News.
When the attack occurred, she was helping her daughter climb onto the floating platform regarding twenty meters from the beach.
The girl was not injured by the shark.
Authorities closed the beaches of Melaque and Barra de Navidad as a preventative measure for the remainder of the day.
