Rapper MHD, whose real name is Mohamed Sylla, was sentenced on September 24 by the Paris Assize Court. He had been arrested for settling scores between rival gangs.
Indeed, it was on the night of July 5 to 6, 2018 that Loïc K., a young man aged 23, was hit by a Mercedes in Paris. It was an accident that was anything but unintentional. After this first impact, the young man was beaten by around ten men then slashed with knives. He did not survive this attack and died within minutes of the attackers leaving. The next day, the Mercedes was found burned in a parking lot. Rapper MHD was identified by several witnesses at the scene, although he always denied being present at the time of the incident.
The rapper appealed his conviction in October. We learned today from our colleagues at Le Parisien that this appeal bore fruit, since the artist was released under judicial supervision while awaiting the new trial.
