Mikati follows up on Al-Aqabiya incident: Bids are rejected

In the new Al-Aqabiya-Saida incident, which caused the death of an Irish member of UNIFIL, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati confirmed that “the army is conducting the necessary investigations into the incident that took place with UNIFIL in the south and led to the death of a member of the Irish battalion and the wounding of three others.”

Today, Monday, he added, “Biddings regarding the UNIFIL incident are unacceptable, as well as underestimating the seriousness of what happened.”

He continued, “It must be taken seriously and full investigations and accountability must be conducted. I am following this file with the army command, which is conducting the necessary investigations, and we hope to reach a result soon.”
