Millionaires travel to Orlando to face Everton

A few hours after defeating Deportes Quindío at the El Campín stadium for the second date of the BetPlay League, Millonarios traveled to Orlando to play the Florida Cup, in which they will face Everton by James Rodríguez and Yerry Mina, after Arsenal and Inter Milan, the other teams that were going to participate in the contest, decided to reject the invitation due to COVID-19.

Alberto Gamero added players to the roster of summoned players who played the game in Bogotá and at dawn this Thursday they traveled to the United States. The team had a flight to Panama, the city where they made a stopover, and then took a new flight to the Orlando International Airport. One of the objectives of the Blues’ trip is to be able to vaccinate the entire campus to reduce the risk of coronavirus infection.

For its part, Everton arrived in Florida on Wednesday and is also preparing for the match against Bogota. After the modifications of the event, the match between Colombians and English is now scheduled for Sunday, July 25 at 5:00 pm (Colombian time) at Camping World Stadium. The organization seeks to organize the calendar for the meetings on Wednesday 28.

This will be Millonarios’ second participation in the Florida Cup. In 2017, under the direction of Miguel Ángel Russo, he played two games. First they lost 0-1 to River Plate and later beat Barcelona of Ecuador 1-0 with a free kick score from Juan Guillermo Domínguez, while the last time they faced a European team happened in 2013, against Porto.
