Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Bagal’s Deputy Secretary Soumya Chaurasya has been arrested in the coal mining scam case. After interrogation, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) recorded their arrest. It is reported that various central agencies have been interrogating the Deputy Secretary for two months.

The ED conducted the search and arrest under the Money Laundering Act-2002. The case alleges that an additional tax of Rs 25 per tonne of coal transported from Chhattisgarh was illegally levied and the money was stolen. Last October, ED had arrested three people, including IAS officer Sameer Bishnoi.
