Minister says that handball and basketball will close the year – news

The organization of the qualification window for the Basketball World Championship and the qualifying handball tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in France, were highlighted by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, as achievements of 2023 in the sector .

According to the official, at the year-end greetings ceremony in Luanda, the country organized, in February, the last qualifying window for this year’s men’s basketball world cup, in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines, with Angola qualifying, through ninth time, finishing second in group E, with 18 points.

The qualifying handball tournament for the 2024 Olympic Games took place, last October, at Multiúsos do Kilamba, and the women’s National Team qualified, for the eighth time, following beating the similar team from Cameroon, by 27-21, being important achievements in national sport.

On the occasion, the portfolio holder acknowledged that, despite 2023 being a challenging year, in financial terms, positive results were achieved, domestically and internationally.

Also, he envisaged a better 2024, both in terms of carrying out tests and participation, without however going into details, having therefore called for the engagement of all agents.
