Ministry of Economy and Finance: 2023 Budget Deficit Reaches MAD 51.4 Billion

The Ministry of Economy and Finance announces a budget deficit of MAD 51.4 billion at the end of November 2023, an increase compared to MAD 47.9 billion the previous year.

This variation results from an increase in expenditure (+9.2 billion dirhams) exceeding that of revenues (+5.7 billion dirhams), according to the SCRT of November 2023. Ordinary revenue reached 275.11 billion dirhams (achievement rate of 88% ), the overall expenditure is 326.52 billion dirhams (achievement rate of 86.3%), with ordinary expenditure of 262.9 billion dirhams (achievement rate of 90.2%).

The ordinary balance is positive at 12.2 billion dirhams, compared to 9.9 billion dirhams in 2022. Investment expenditure increases by 10.2 billion dirhams (+13.6%) compared to 2022, reaching 85.3 billion dirhams. The CSTs have a surplus balance of MAD 21.7 billion, including MAD 18.9 billion from the Special Fund and MAD 7 billion from the Social Solidarity Contribution.

The SCRT offers a statistical vision consistent with international standards of the execution of the forecasts of the finance law.
