The Minnesota Timberwolves have announced the signing of the Czech guard Vít Krejčí. Per franchise policy, exact terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Krejčí, 2.03 meters tall, played last season with the Atlanta Hawks, where he averaged 1.2 points and 0.9 rebounds in 29 games with very few opportunities. Before joining the Georgians, he played his rookie season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, averaging 6.2 points with 40.7% shooting from the field, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 30 appearances (eight as a starter).
A native of Strakonice, he has played for the men’s national team of the Czech Republic since 2019. Recently, he participated in three games at the 2023 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Poland and Estonia, where he averaged 14.0 points on 61.9% shooting, 5.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game .
Krejčí was selected by the Washington Wizards with the 37th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, who immediately traded his rights to the Thunder. Before his selection, Krejci had just completed his best season in the ACB with the Casademont Zaragozabeing elected a member of the best young quintet in the Spanish league.
The player arrived at the quarry tomorrow in 2017 from the Sokol Pisek from his native country following impressing scouts during his participation in the 2014 Mini Cup.
