A driver in his twenties died on Highway 15 in Mirabel, in the Laurentians, Tuesday evening.
At around 10:30 p.m., the vehicle was traveling in a southerly direction when, for some unknown reason, it rolled over before hitting head-on with the base of a lamppost in the median, near Chemin Notre-Dame.
Under the force of the impact, the vehicle caught fire, forcing the partial and momentary closure of the motorway axis.
The passenger, also in her twenties, managed to extricate herself from the vehicle with nevertheless minor burns and injuries which do not put her life in danger.
The driver, from Greater Montreal, could not get out and died trapped inside the vehicle, said a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The cause of this fatal off the road was not known, although the thesis of dangerous driving seems privileged, according to the police.
