Miraculous Bus Accident at Athénée Royal Yvonne Vieslet: No Injuries Despite Close Call

2023-11-15 09:48:00

We obviously did not go far from a disaster this Wednesday morning in front of the Athénée Royal Yvonne Vieslet, in Marchienne-au-Pont (Charleroi). A bus, which was transporting children a few minutes before and which was parked in front of the school, in rue des Remparts, suddenly began to roll down the slope. No one was inside.

Without a driver, he walked down the street alone for almost 200 meters. It deviated to one side to hit an electricity pole, before being thrown back to the other by the shock, it ripped open a garden wall, hit a gas cabin… and ended its journey in the garage of a house, at the crossroads below the school.

Miraculously, despite the presence of children in the street at 8:15 a.m., no one was injured.

The local police of Charleroi, the firefighters of the Hainaut-Est zone and the services of the distribution network manager Ores immediately set up a security perimeter around the bus, due to the presence of gas. Steps are being taken, at the time of writing, to evacuate the bus and avoid any potential explosion.
