Montreal Canadiens Sign Alex Newhook: Contract Details, Statistics, and Stanley Cup Victory

The Montreal Canadiens signed Alex Newhook to a four-year, $11.6 million contract on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old forward, who was acquired by the HC in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche on June 27, will earn an average annual salary of $2.9 million through 2026-27.

Newhook set a career-high in goals (14) and had 30 points in 82 regular-season games with the Avalanche last season, before recording one assist in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Selected by Colorado in the first round (16th overall) in the 2019 draft, Newhook has 66 points (27 goals, 39 assists) in 159 regular season NHL games, as well as seven points (one goal, six assists) in 27 playoff games.

A native of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Newhook won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022.
