A 21-year-old man was the victim of an armed attack during the night from Friday to Saturday following what appears to be a family dispute that occurred in the Montreal-North borough.

The stabbing attack, which took place in a home on rue Sabrevois, was reported to the authorities around 1:15 a.m. Saturday.

The suspect, a 16-year-old boy related to the victim, was arrested. It was “an intra-family conflict between the victim and the suspect which degenerated,” said spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Department Caroline Chevrefils (SPVM).

The victim was found conscious by first responders and was transported to a hospital for treatment of several upper body injuries. Fortunately, there was no fear for his life, said the SPVM spokesperson.

The suspect was detained and will be questioned by SPVM investigators, who are conducting an investigation to understand the exact circumstances of the incident.
