The new research chair Ubisoft-Mila Scaling game worlds with responsible AI (Scaling Game Worlds with Responsible AI) is established for a period of 5 years. She will explore the ethical use of AI in content creation for large-scale game development.

It should provide “the opportunity to ensure that future innovations in AI are designed with the aim of helping creators and not creation”, according to Yves Jacquier, executive director of Ubisoft La Forge – a network of research and development led by the French video game company.

The Quebec government announced several subsidies related to artificial intelligence:

just over $9 million to support 37 AI innovation projects by companies (list at the bottom of a communiqué); $9 million to the Quebec Research Fund – Health to consolidate its research and partnership program on the adoption of AI in health; and $6 million to HEC Montréal to continue the Next AI ($3.6 million) and Creative Destruction Lab ($2.4 million) business acceleration programs.
