More safety for cyclists: new multi-purpose lane instead of parking spaces on Wurmstrasse

A partial stopping and parking ban has now been imposed on Wurmstraße in downtown Linz. This makes a new multipurpose strip possible. As a result, cyclists can now safely reach the Kroatengasse in the opposite direction to the one-way street.

LINZ. As a measure to increase road safety, the Linz mobility department has now ordered a ban on stopping and parking in the area of Wurmstraße 15a to 19. This will eliminate some parking spaces and create space for a new multi-purpose lane.

Safely passable once morest one-way

This is already marked and will be supplemented with bicycle pictograms. A speedometer will also be installed. As a result of this measure, the entire Wurmstrasse up to the Kroatengasse is now safe to drive once morest the one-way street.

“The measures make it easier for weaker road users, who are on foot, with a pram, in a wheelchair or with a bike, to get through this section of road better and more transparently,” said Deputy Mayor Martin Hajart (ÖVP).
