China has revealed that between December 8 and January 12, more than 60,000 people have died due to covid in the country. The rate of covid patients in the country is at the highest level. This is the first time that China has released the number of Covid-19 deaths since the zero-covid policy was lifted. The average age of the deceased is 80 years. 90 percent of those affected by Covid are over 65 years of age.

Jiao Yahui, head of the Medical Administration Bureau under the National Health Mission, said 5,503 deaths were due to respiratory diseases caused by the virus. 54,435 people died due to cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

The World Health Organization had criticized China for not releasing accurate Covid figures the other day.
