Breaking: Cobo Region’s 2024-2025 Participatory Public Account Highlights Expanded Drug Prevention and Recovery Efforts
Cobo, Chile – The National Service for the Prevention and of Drug and Alcohol Consumption (Senda) has released its participatory public account for the period 2024-2025. The report emphasizes territorial work and increased coverage, making significant strides in prevention, treatment, and social integration initiatives.
Expanded Prevention Programs and Treatments
The region has marked the successful implementation of the Prepaa2 program, a preventive continuum now active in 60 educational establishments. Over 20,000 students from first basic to middle fourth grade are benefiting from this initiative. Additionally, over 7,000 secondary education students participated in the Youth and Welfare Survey across 127 establishments in the region’s 15 communes.
Senda has expanded its preventive coverage to 13 of the 15 communes with a new agreement with Canela. This significant enhancement in outreach ensures more students receive critical preventive education.
Treatment and Recovery
In terms of treatment, the success of 27 free treatment centers in the region is notable. These centers provided care to over 1,100 individuals in 2024, underscoring substantial efforts in addiction recovery.
Strengthening Social Integration
The region has also bolstered its social integration efforts. A new social integration support dwelling (VAIs) was inaugurated to assist women transitioning from therapeutic treatment. Additionally, the Socio-Labor Orientation Office (OSL) continues to equip individuals with tools for job readiness and entrepreneurship.
Enhanced Public Security
The report also highlights the Zeroance program, which conducted 8,085 preventive controls on drivers in 2024. Collaborative operations with Carabineros de Chile have played a pivotal role in enhancing public security across the region.
Future Outlook
The presentation by regional director Rodrigo Maturana, attended by over 100 authorities, intersectoral representatives, students, and community members, underscored the progress made and the challenges ahead. Senda’s commitment to prevention, treatment, and social integration will continue to drive positive change in Cobo.
