More than half of Elon Musk’s followers on Twitter are fake

It is estimated that more than half of the American billionaire’s followers Elon Musk On Twitter, they are fake, according to a report published by the British newspaper, The Independent.

53.3 percent of Musk’s followers are “fake followers”, the SparkToro audit tool revealed, meaning they are either spam accounts, bots, or are no longer active.

The world’s richest person is currently engaged in a bid to take over the social media platform, which he has pledged to get rid of spam bots and fraudulent accounts.

Musk has nearly 90 million followers on Twitter, making his account the eighth most followed account on the platform.

Even for accounts with followers of the same size, Musk has a disproportionately large number of fake followers, according to the audit service.

According to the newspaper report, “This audit analyzes a sample of 2,000 random accounts from the latest 100,000 accounts that follow Mask, then looks at more than 25 factors associated with the fake, bot, and low-quality accounts.”

Musk, who is also the CEO of electric car maker Tesla, had reached an agreement to buy Twitter in a deal that would put the world’s richest man in control of the social media platform that includes millions of users and global leaders, for $44 billion in cash.
