More women than men play on the Nintendo Switch – GamePolitics

Gaming is no longer a purely male domain. This also applies to Austria, where a Study by the Austrian Association for Entertainment Software as early as 2021 showed that 5.3 million people in Germany regularly play video games and the proportion of women is 48 percent. On average, gamers are 36 years old and play 12.9 hours a week. The fact that 43 percent in Austria say they play games on their smartphones quickly led the male part of the community to assume that female gamers were mainly playing casual games like “Candy Crush” on their cell phones. At least in relation to the USA, this assumption is wrong, as a recent study shows.
