Morocco joins Mali in the CHAN 2021 final

During the semi-final of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) between Mali and Guinea, on February 3 in Douala, Cameroon.

Morocco won against Cameroon 4-0 on Wednesday 3 February and joined Mali, who qualified earlier against Guinea, in the final of the 2021 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The Atlas Lions (Morocco) have made short work of the Indomitable Lions (Cameroon) and the hopes of the host country, and are candidates for their own succession (2018) in this competition reserved for players playing on the continent , the first major African football tournament organized since the appearance of the new coronavirus.

Soufiane Bouftini (28e minute) and Soufiane Rahimi (40e) allowed the Moroccans to take the advantage in the first half. Rahimi found the opportunity to score a second opportunistic goal in the 73e minute and Mohammed Ali Bemammer worsened the score at the 84e minute, in this meeting where the Cameroonians, although at home, have never found the solution against the defending champion.

In the afternoon, in Douala, the Eagles of Mali qualified first for the final after their victory on penalties 5 to 4 (0 to 0 at the end of extra time), as in the quarters against the Red Devils of Congo-Brazzaville, but this time against Guinea. As in their victory over the Congolese, it was the star of the Eagles, Mamadou Coulibaly, last shooter of the series, who scored the goal synonymous with qualification.

The Eagles and the Lions of the Atlas will therefore face each other in the final of CHAN 2021 on Sunday at 8 p.m. in Yaoundé. As for Cameroon and Guinea, they will compete for third place in the championship on Saturday in Douala.
